Finding the Blessings

There are times in our lives when things just seem to go our way. We feel blessed at all of the good in our lives. We have wonderful and loving family and friends; we know that we are living our purpose and doing all that we can to put our best foot forward. We are energized, we are on a roll, and there is no stopping us! However, there are times in our lives that we feel overwhelmed. We feel that we have no support. It seems that everything that we do is slowed down, as if our path is filled with peanut butter. There is an overall feeling of doom and gloom. We begin to lose our way and our positive attitude, along with our faith and trust that everything is going to be okay. There comes a time when all the negativity seems to trickle out into every area of our life. It even feels like nothing we do is good enough.
If this sounds like you, know that although you are going through rough times and challenges, even when we’re overwhelmed we can find blessings in our life. Take a moment, breathe, and shift your thoughts from negative to positive. If that inner voice is causing negative dialogue that seemingly takes over—you can turn it all around. There is a saying, “fake it till you make it.” This statement applies to every thing in your life. Act as if you already have that which you are wanting. Be grateful to the Universe for ALL the good in your life and make it a new habit. Just like negative thought or negative self-talk is a habit, you can also make positive thought and positive self-talk a habit.
Simply put, every time there is a negative thought or negative self talk, stop and tell yourself, it’s all going to be okay. Know that you must shift your focus instantly. For every negative thought, follow it up with a positive statement. So, if you are hearing negative self-talk, such as, “I am broke”—immediately negate that with “I have everything that I need” or “I am blessed with financial abundance”. It is important for your highest good to be able to turn it all around for the better. Be grateful, be open to receive, be open to see all the good that is happening to you now. Know that each time you turn around a negative thought into a positive one you are lifting your vibration. In lifting your vibration, you are showing faith, trust, and courage to the Universe, but more importantly to yourself. No one is responsible for your happiness except you. You are the common thread running through your life and you can CHOOSE to be positive or your can CHOOSE to be negative…it is up to you.
There is one thing that I know for sure! If you look long enough and hard enough, even at the best things in your life, you will find something “off or wrong” with most everything. However, why would you want to dwell in that place of negativity? Spend your time and energy looking for the good in all people, in all things. Each day upon rising and before sleep, say a prayer of gratitude. Do this and you will notice that you feel better, lighter, and more energetic. I made a blessing jar and small slips of paper that I write down one blessing per paper and drop it into the jar. At the end of the year, I take them out and read each one--this is a great way to end a year and to begin a year. You could use a gratitude journal to write all things and people that you are grateful for in your life. Doing positive things, taking positive action, only deepens that sense of knowing that all is well.
So, the next time that you are feeling that nothing is going your way, think about turning that around immediately. Don’t just sit in that space. Acknowledge that you are frustrated, afraid; stressed, whatever it is, and then state out loud that you are choosing to be positive, choosing to be grateful for all that you do have, and choosing to see the good in all people and in all things. You will find that you will make a habit out of positivity and gratitude; you will no longer find yourself going to that dark place first, but, to the positive, to the light. We are all here to learn and grow; embrace this fact, and make YOUR life and the lives of those around you the best that it can be by living in a space of gratitude and positivity.
